Job Overview Key Responsibilities: • Lead musicology/music history area and teach undergraduate and graduate courses • Teach a graduate research methods course • Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research and academic writing • Lead and teach in the department's University Foundations course offerings, providing academic leadership in curriculum development and instructional coordination • Teach additional course(s) based upon candidate's expertise and needs in the department • Contribute to curricular innovation and revision within the department • Participate in Department activities and committee work, as load permits The Department of Music has approximately 175 undergraduate and graduate students, 20 full-time faculty and 25 adjunct faculty. Qualifications: • A Master's degree in music • Substantial experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching (e.g., experience teaching at the college/university level, equivalent experience in music) • Ability to teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students with writing and research skills Preferred Qualifications: • A doctoral degree in musicology, music history, ethnomusicology, or a closely related discipline • Demonstrated excellence and ability to teach across a broad spectrum of historical and cultural musical traditions • A record of scholarly activity • Experience in academic leadership, particularly within the music history and the University Foundations curricula • Engagement with contemporary pedagogical tools and approaches, including the thoughtful integration of technology in the classroom • Additional area(s) of interest and expertise in music
