Accompanist

**Overview:**
The Accompanist will provide musical accompaniment to school choirs during rehearsals and concerts, under the direction of the vocal music teacher. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in music theory, piano skills, and vocal coaching, with the ability to work cooperatively with students and teachers. **Responsibilities:**
* Accompany choirs during practices, rehearsals, and performances
* Assist the music teacher in leading section rehearsals and concerts
* Coach students and small ensembles
* Follow the soloist or conductor in performing a musical score
* Lead section rehearsals by playing parts, identifying student mistakes, and correcting mistakes
* Encourage students and reinforce good vocal techniques
* Recognize and resolve intonation problems
* Monitor equipment, materials, and facilities
* Maintain records and follow required procedures and practices
* Perform other related duties as assigned
**Qualifications:**
* Education: High school graduation supplemented by private or college-level training in piano, music theory, and at least two years of experience as an accompanist
* Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of music theory, musical terms, signs, and abbreviations; understanding of foreign languages in relation to musical pieces
* Skills: Ability to accompany choirs, soloists, and small ensembles; proficiency in vocal techniques and vocal coaching; advanced piano skills
* Abilities: Ability to sight-read and prepare complex musical scores; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain interpersonal relationships
**Benefits:**
* Part-time position with a salary range of $31.00 per hour
* Temporary Employment Agreement (TEA) position for the 2026-2027 school year only
