Accompanist

Position Type: MUST POSSESS THE SKILL TO EFFECTIVELY PLAY A VARIETY OF MUSICAL FORMS ON THE PIANO including classical, popular, jazz and folk music; successfully sight read, transpose, and improvise music; understand and follow a variety of complex and technical oral and written instructions; establish and maintain routine records and files; may supervise and assist in transporting students when necessary; establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties. One year of experience as a professional accompanist for soloist, choruses, dance groups or as a pianist with a recognized musical organization. DUTIES OF POSITION: To provide piano or other specified instrumental accompaniment for music classes, choral groups, vocal ensembles and soloists, rehearsals, performances, and other school activities; improvising or playing from scores as necessary. This job classification provides specialized skills as a pianist for a variety of school-related activities and requires specialized knowledge in the reading, interpretation, and arrangement of music.
