Organization Overview Bay Area Music Project (BAMP) is an El Sistema-inspired after-school music education program supporting children's educational and social-emotional needs in lower-income communities by providing high-quality music instruction, nutritious snacks and homework assistance regardless of abilities and circumstances. Job Summary We are seeking a multi-string Teaching Artist (violin, viola, cello) for our after-school program at a middle school in Alameda, CA. The Ideal Candidate • Has at least one year of formal music teaching experience with young people of different ages/abilities. • Has a flexible schedule that allows for a commitment to the program for a school year • Can work occasional nights and weekends as needed • Is creative, motivated and energetic with a passion for creating an impact on the lives of young people through music • Has exceptional classroom management skills • Has experience working with youth from diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds • Can cultivate and maintain a positive learning environment using positive behavior support principles • Is able to communicate comfortably and respectfully with students, families, and administration • Strong organization skills, matched by a sense of humor and readiness to adapt Pay: $38.00 - $40.00 per hour
