After School Music Teacher

The mission of A Gift for Music, a program of A Gift For Teaching, is to provide string music instrument instruction to students who normally could not afford it otherwise. Each instructor will be expected to teach after-school group violin classes 2-4 days per week, with anywhere between 1 –2 classes per day. Each instructor will receive valuable paid curriculum training and classroom experience under the supervision of the Director of A Gift for Music. Specific Responsibilities: • Serve as the instructor in their respective scheduled AGFM after-school program, working closely with elementary age students • Administer violin instruction to up to 20 students per class, in accordance with the AGFM violin curriculum • Attend and lead student concerts (one in Winter and one in Spring) • Maintain instrument inventory for assigned school • Track student attendance and behavior using our online staff portal • Communicate with school personnel and administration, when necessary • Develop and maintain relationship with students, parents, principals, and classroom teachers • Attendance at and participation in all AGFM staff meetings and training sessions • Assistance with special events as required • Other duties as assigned Compensation: $20/hr plus $100 travel stipend per school per semester.
