Position Type: Part-time, hourly - August through June; Summer hours optional

Compensation: $26-$30 per hour

Schedule: Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri, 2:30 pm - 6:30 pm | Wed 12:30 pm - 6:30 pm (Additional hours based on school year calendar)

Reports to: Program Coordinator, Director of Operations

ABOUT BAMP

Bay Area Music Project (BAMP) is an El Sistema-inspired after-school music program that supports the social-emotional and academic growth of children in under-resourced communities through high-quality music instruction, nutritious snacks, and homework support. Our staff embraces both the social and musical mission of our work, nurturing every child as both an individual and a musician.

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking creative and enthusiastic Teaching Artists to join our new after-school program at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Academy in Sausalito. Opportunities are available for both Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten classrooms. Teaching Artists will lead a class of up to 20 students with the support of a Program Assistant, maintaining an 8 :1 student-to-staff ratio, and will work collaboratively with the broader Bay Area Music Project team. The ideal candidate will create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment that supports the unique developmental needs of young children. Through play-based learning, creative exploration, movement, music, art, and hands-on activities, Teaching Artists will help foster students' social-emotional growth, curiosity, confidence, and sense of belonging while building a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

Responsibilities

Create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment that supports the social, emotional, and developmental needs of TK and Kindergarten students.Build positive relationships with students through mentorship, individualized support, and high-quality care.Plan and lead developmentally appropriate, play-based activities including music, art, movement, outdoor play, and creative exploration.Establish consistent daily routines for check-in, snack, transitions, enrichment, and recreation.Foster a positive classroom culture using effective behavior guidance and classroom management strategies.Communicate and collaborate with families, school staff, Teaching Artists, Program Assistants, and the BAMP team to support student success.Participate in staff meetings, planning sessions, and professional development.The ideal candidate Has

Completed at least 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, or currently working toward this requirement.One or more years of experience working with young children in preschool, TK, kindergarten, after-school, camp, or similar settings preferred.Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices for children ages 4–6.Strong classroom management, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.Experience working with diverse children and families in an inclusive learning environment.Demonstrates initiative, flexibility, creativity, professionalism, and a collaborative attitude.Additional Qualifications

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a related field.Experience in expanded learning or after-school programs.Familiarity with trauma-informed practices, restorative approaches, and positive behavior support strategies.Interested candidates, please address resume and cover letter to:
