As an Army Band Musician, you will showcase your skills in different environments, including ceremonial bands, jazz ensembles, and small groups. You will specialize in one or more instruments such as tuba, trombone, euphonium, bassoon, electric bass guitar, saxophone, flute, piccolo, oboe, clarinet, French horn, percussion, cornet, trumpet, guitar, or keyboard.

Your primary responsibility will be to perform and rehearse as a professional musician in diverse Army Band ensembles. To join, you will need to pass one or more auditions.

Job Duties

Perform a wide range of musical genres, including marching band, ceremonial band, concert band, classical, jazz, ethnic, and popular music.Demonstrate proficiency on your chosen instrument in various performances, from solo acts to full concert bands.Tune your instrument to specific pitch standards.Transpose moderately easy musical scores.Some Skills You Will Develop

Instead of incurring costs to gain skills, you will earn a salary while learning. In the Army National Guard, you will acquire valuable musical training while receiving a regular paycheck and qualified for tuition assistance.

Job training for a Band Musician includes 10 weeks of Basic Training to learn essential Soldiering skills, followed by up to 23 weeks of Advanced Individual Training based on your instrument proficiency.
