As a member of the Army National Guard band, you'll have the opportunity to work with other musicians, hone your skills, and prepare yourself for a successful career in music.The Army Bandperson role offers a unique blend of performance, education, and personal development opportunities. You'll perform in various ensembles, including marching bands, concert bands, and jazz groups, while specializing in one or more instruments.To be successful in this role, you'll need to possess strong musical skills, including sight-reading, ear training, and instrumental technique. You'll also have access to top-notch training facilities and equipment, allowing you to refine your skills and achieve your goals.Key responsibilities include performing in all musical styles on your instrument(s), tuning an instrument to a given pitch, and transposing moderately easy music. With experience, you may also have the chance to work with professional orchestras, bands, and choral groups.Earn While You LearnAs a member of the Army National Guard, you'll earn a regular paycheck while learning valuable job skills. Your job training will consist of 10 weeks of Basic Training and up to 23 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, depending on your level of instrumental proficiency.
