Time Commitment: • Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends; • Minimum of approximately 3 hours per week average for rehearsals and concerts spread over approximately 9 months per year. (Note: There are breaks for summer and breaks between concerts); • Three major concerts; fall, winter, and spring; • May have 4-6 additional community performances per year; • Tech rehearsals prior to each concert; • May have additional sectional rehearsals in addition to regularly scheduled rehearsals; • Attend monthly board meetings (Approximately 2 hours per month); • Attend annual chorus retreat; and • Serve on regular and ad hoc committees (e.g., Music Team) as needed. • Have music and rehearsal tracks available or arrangements made to create tracks by the first rehearsal for each concert; • If necessity is known well in advance of the start of rehearsals, coordinate the brailling of music with the assistance of music team members before the first rehearsal for each concert. • Obtain Board of Directors approval of all collaborations (See Policy and Procedure for Collaboration) • Network with other arts organizations, music directors, and community groups to increase the visibility of the Chorus and to encourage collaboration. or Advanced Degree in Music with an emphasis in choral conducting or equivalent conducting experience (minimum 2 years); • Experience conducting or working with a community-based chorus and with singers of various musical skills and experience; • Have an understanding and sensitivity about the unique challenges and opportunities present in the aging voice; • Interest in and commitment to embracing the mission of the Chorus; • Ability to offer strong leadership skills as well as to balance work within a team setting; • Flexibility in working with a diverse group of volunteers and personalities; • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal; • An ability to work within electronic media: word processing, e-mail, and internet; • Comfort with, and understanding of, the LGBTQ+ community; • Ability to effectively run rehearsals with large- and small-group work; and • Basic piano skills for warm-ups, sectionals, vocal placement, and etc.
