SUMMARY: Reporting to the Building Principal, the Assistant Band Director is responsible for working with the Band Director to provide direct instruction in band education to elementary students and assessing and evaluating students' abilities for the purpose of growing the band program in the Oxford Public Schools. Teaching students how to play musical instruments, how to read music and understand its basic concepts, develop proper technique for their chosen instruments, and understanding the technical aspects of music and performance. Evaluate students' progress and give feedback on their level of mastery and performance. Oversee the care, upkeep, and storage of all district-owned band equipment and instruments. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position for extended periods; position oneself to demonstrate technique; move up to 25 lbs.
