Assistant Concert Band Leader

Job Responsibilities • Assist the Band Director in supervising and instructing musicians in the Hawaii County band or directing the West Hawaii band; • Play a musical instrument and/or its related double in the Hawaii County or West Hawaii band at public performances; • Assist in administrative responsibilities for the bands, including planning and coordinating monthly schedules of rehearsals and performances; • Supervise and lead the band in parades, conduct full band rehearsals, sectionals, or small group rehearsals, and supervise the positions and activities of a section; • Participate in concerts, parades, and other regular and special engagements of the band; • Warm up, warm down, tune up, set up, and break down all equipment, study musical scores, and memorize parts; • Participate in the interview, auditioning, selection, and promotion process, moderate interview processes, recommend candidates for open positions; • Assign, train, and evaluate employees, review employees' performance and prepare job performance reports, and conduct investigations and make recommendations regarding personnel actions;
