Assistant Director of Bands

Charlotte Latin’s Band Program is part of the Performing Arts Department and serves students in Grades 5-12. The program is staffed by two full-time educators: Director of Bands and Assistant Director of Bands. The bands perform two concerts annually and participate in Music Performance Adjudication events as needed. Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Director of Bands include: • Serve as the lead teacher in beginning band (Grades 5-6) • Assist in intermediate and advanced bands (Grades 7-12) • Prepare ensembles for winter and spring concerts • Assist the Upper School Pep Band in preparation and performance for limited engagements at home football games • Assist in providing students with an opportunity to participate in extracurricular band activities and ensure compliance with any North Carolina Band Master requirements. Qualifications: • A Bachelor's degree in music with a concentration in instrumental music is required, with strong preference for Master's degree • Experience teaching in middle and high school grade levels • A minimum of three years of teaching music in a school setting is required
