Assistant Director of Bands (693)

In this role, the successful candidate will assist with direction of the Tulane University Marching Band (TUMB) including significant drill writing and music arranging responsibilities, direct the Tulane "Soundwave" Pep Band for volleyball and men's and women's basketball games, coordinate and supervise student travel for conference and NCAA tournament travel, possibly serve as the assistant conductor of the spring Concert Band depending on qualifications and program needs, and assist recruitment efforts in collaboration with band colleagues, the department of music, and the office of admissions. Proficiency and experience as an instructor and performer of band wind instruments. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Master's degree in music education or conducting Two years of experience teaching instrumental music at secondary and/or college level.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Doctorate (ABD considered) in music education (EdD or PhD), or conducting (DM, DMA). Successful experience teaching in higher education (as graduate assistant, staff, or faculty). Performance experience in a wide variety of settings, including collegiate marching band.
