General Responsibilities
Assists the Music Director in coordinating and supporting the total music ministry of the church in a manner that enhances the spirit of worship and assists the congregation in praising and serving God. The Assistant Music Director works collaboratively with the Music Director, Senior Pastor, Worship Team, musicians, choirs, praise team, and other ministries to help ensure a meaningful, excellent, and well-organized worship experience.
Reports To
Reports directly to the Music Director and works under the general supervision of the Senior Pastor. The Assistant Music Director will work closely with the Worship Team and other staff and ministries as requested.
There will be a 90-day probationary period, after which the Staff-Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) will determine whether the position will become permanent. Once permanent, the position will be reviewed annually by the pastor in conjunction with the SPRC.

Requirements

Degree in music and/or equivalent musical experience.
Ability to read music and play by ear with proficiency on piano and/or organ is preferred but not required.
Ability to teach and rehearse vocal parts is required.
Ability to directing choirs, praise teams, and other vocal or instrumental ensembles is required.
Ability to lead worship vocally is required.
Possess strong musical, organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Ability to work effectively with people of all ages.
Demonstrate flexibility, dependability, teamwork, and a commitment to the mission and ministry of ConneXion Church.

Specific Responsibilities

Assist the Music Director in coordinating the church's music and arts ministry.
Assist in planning and implementing music for Sunday worship, special services, and other church events.
Serve as a rehearsal leader, accompanist, vocalist, instrumentalist, or director as assigned.
Assist with the development and musical preparation of choirs, praise teams, and musicians.
Help develop the musical skills of participants through rehearsals, coaching, workshops, and other training opportunities.
Assist with concerts, musicians, cantatas, and other special musical programs.
Support the recruitment and development of choir, praise team, and instrumental ministry participants.

Worship Planning and Preparation

Work collaboratively with the Music Director and Senior Pastor in preparing music appropriate to worship themes, sermon series, liturgical seasons, and special services.
Assist with selecting, arranging, or adapting music based on the needs and capabilities of the choir, praise team, or congregation.
Participate in Worship Design Team meetings as requested.
Prepare and organize music, rehearsal materials, charts, lyrics, and other resources needed for worship.

Choir Rehearsals

Assist with weekly rehearsals for the choir and/or praise team in preparation for Sunday worship.
Lead rehearsals or sectional rehearsals as assigned by the Music Director.
Teach vocal parts and assist members in improving musical skill, confidence, and performance.
Assist with scheduling and preparing for additional rehearsals required for Christmas, Easter, concerts, or other special services.
Encourage a spirit of teamwork, excellence, spiritual growth, and Christian fellowship among music ministry participants.

Worship Leadership

Assist with leading the musical portions of Sunday worship and special services.
Be prepared to provide musical leadership when the Music Director is absent or unavailable, as requested and when reasonably able.
Work collaboratively with the Praise Leader, band, vocalists, Media Team, and other worship participants.
Assist in identifying and coordinating additional musicians when needed, in consultation with the Music Director and/or Senior Pastor.

Music Resources and Equipment

Assist in maintaining and organizing the church's music library, instruments, choir robes, equipment, and other music ministry resources.
Assist with the preparation of music and related supplies as needed.
Make recommendations to the Music Director regarding music, equipment, supplies, and other ministry needs.

Other Responsibilities

Coordinate and cooperate with the pastoral staff, office staff, Worship Team, and other church ministries.
Provide musical assistance for special services and other occasions as requested and as availability permits.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Music Director or Senior Pastor.

Conditions of Employment

Provide a minimum of 30 days' notice of resignation.
If unable to attend a scheduled worship service, rehearsal, or ministry responsibility, notify the Music Director and Senior Pastor as soon as possible and at least 2 hours prior, except in extreme emergencies.
For planned absences, notify the Music Director and Senior Pastor at least 2 weeks in advance.
When requested, assist in securing an appropriate substitute or replacement musician for scheduled responsibilities, unless other arrangements are made by the Music Director, Senior Pastor, or SPRC.
Maintain a professional, cooperative, and Christ-centered attitude in all interactions and responsibilities.

Summary
The Assistant Music Director is a collaborative ministry leader who helps ensure that ConneXion Church's music ministry is spiritually meaningful, musically excellent, and effectively organized. This individual serves as a key support to the Music Director while helping to develop musicians, strengthen worship leadership, and create opportunities for the congregation to encounter and glorify God through music.

Salary Range: $10,500 – $12,000

Wednesday Rehearsal (6:30pm) and Sunday Worship (10am)
