Valley City, North DakotaDescription The Department of Music at Valley City State University is seeking a special appointment assistant professor of woodwinds to join a growth-oriented team committed to implementing a 21st-century music experience across the curriculum.The primary responsibilities of this position include teaching applied woodwind lessons, woodwind methods... and in secondary areas according to candidate strengths and departmental need. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain/update course and program curricular content, participate in department assessment, contribute to campus committees, and perform other duties as needed.Minimum Qualifications:Earned Master's degree in MusicAbility to teach as a woodwind generalist (flute, single reeds, and double reeds)Ability to teach courses in a secondary area such as music theory or music technologyPreferred Qualifications:Earned Doctorate in MusicExcellent performance ability on one or more woodwind instrumentsDemonstrated experience in music recruitingK-12 music teaching experienceStrong interest in music technology, particularly its application to the music education curriculumCompensation and Rank:The salary for this position is commensurate with qualifications, and typically ranges from $43,000 to $48,000 annually.
