Assistant Professor of Music (Director of Bands)

The Department of Music at Saginaw Valley State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Music (Director of Bands), starting July 1, 2026. In addition, the successful candidate will teach courses in either Music Theory, Music History, or Music Education, based on the candidate's interest and background. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, an ability to engage a broad spectrum of students, and a willingness to lead in departmental and University service, including recruitment and retention initiatives and mentoring students. • Experience and ability to positively interact with all members of the campus community. SVSU earned the Community Engagement classification from the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, a distinction achieved by only 7 percent of U.S. colleges and universities.
