The Newcomb Department of Music in the School of Liberal Arts at Tulane University is seeking an assistant professor of music (tenure-track) with expertise in the history and practice of Black American music. In addition to the expectation of strong research/creative output, the position has a 2/2 teaching load of courses for music majors as well as general population students (non-musicians). This is a tenure-track position. Tulane is an R1 research institution and successful tenure is dependent on national recognized scholarship and/or nationally recognized creative output/performance informed by research.The successful candidate will be a scholar or a scholar-artist with an active research/creative production/performance portfolio. The Newcomb Department of Music has a storied history, featuring faculty with expertise in performance, theory, and musicology in American, European, and global traditions.
