The School of Music in the College of Music and
Performing Arts at Belmont University is seeking applications for a tenure
track faculty position in Music
Theory/Applied Winds at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning
August 1, 2027.

The primary responsibilities for this position include
teaching courses in music theory/aural skills, with additional teaching in
undergraduate and graduate classical winds (tuba/euphonium strongly preferred).
Other courses in performance and style, pedagogy, and instrumental methods may
be included based on candidate’s background, applied area, and expertise. An
annual teaching load would include music theory coursework (12 hours annually),
with applied lessons and other academic courses (12 hours annually) for a
combined total of a 24-hour teaching workload. Additional primary
responsibilities include academic advising, maintaining scholarly/creative
endeavors, student recruitment, and performing department, college, and
university service. Candidates will be engaging teacher-artists with expertise
in current practice in pedagogical principles, performance practice, and
current best practice in the field. In addition, the successful applicant will
enjoy working in a campus climate that promotes a Christ-centered environment
and collegial atmosphere. A doctoral degree in applied music or music
theory is required; previous teaching at the collegiate level is preferred.

The School of Music in the College of Music and Performing Arts at

**Required Education**A doctoral degree in applied music or music theory is required.
  **Required Experience**Previous teaching at the collegiate level is preferred.
