**Rank: Assistant Professor, Full-time (9 month), 5-year Ranked Renewable Term**

The University of Oklahoma Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts School of Music seeks an Assistant Director of Concert Bands at the Assistant Professor rank to join a band program long known for its vibrant and comprehensive ensemble offerings and undergraduate and graduate conducting curriculum.

 **Responsibilities**

·       Conduct the OU Symphony Band and teach undergraduate conducting courses and other undergraduate courses and ensembles according to the needs of the school and the candidate's abilities.

·       Teach graduate conducting lessons, special topics, and collaborate with the graduate conducting seminar and conducting lab; guide graduate-level research and serve on committees as deemed appropriate by the SOM.

·       Assist in coordinating recruitment and outreach activities. Actively connect with regional secondary school educators.

·       Engage in an active research, creative activity, and conducting agenda.

·       Participate in School, College, University, and professional service. 

### Qualifications

**Required Qualifications**

Doctorate in Music (Instrumental Conducting or Music Education); ABD considered if terminal degree is earned by August 1, 2027. Demonstrated success in artistic conducting, teaching, and performing at the collegiate and/or secondary level. 

**Desired Qualifications**

·       Demonstrated experience in all facets of an active university band program, e.g. concert bands, athletic bands, applicable administrative experience

·       Demonstrated successful public school instrumental teaching experience at the secondary level

·       Evidence of success in teaching undergraduate and graduate conducting

·       Ability and demonstrated experience teaching/conducting in another area of the curriculum such as new music ensemble, music education, world music, etc.

·       Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with immediate colleagues as well as secondary school music educators

·       Demonstrated success in recruiting

·       Record of creative/scholarly accomplishments, as demonstrated through regional, national, and/or international presentations at music conferences, performances, master classes, recordings, publications, and/or professional leadership

·       Experience guiding creative activity at the graduate level
