Description: Employee would be responsible for teaching band classes to upper school students, focusing on instrumental performance, music theory, ensemble collaboration, and personal growth in musicianship. Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education, Instrumental Performance, or a related field • Preferred experience directing school bands or teaching instrumental music in a classroom setting • State or ACSI certification or eligibility to obtain certification (can be obtained after hire) • Proficiency in a wide range of band instruments and ensemble conducting • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills • Be a born-again Christian who is exemplary in his/her Christian walk Expectations: • Above all, the director would be expected to set an example of the importance of prayer, Bible study, witnessing, and unity in Christian fellowship, as well as a model of a consistent daily walk with Jesus Christ in speech, actions, and attitudes • Demonstrate expertise in instrumental instruction and ensemble direction • Plan and lead effective rehearsals that develop students' technical skill, musicality, and spiritual discipline • Select Christ-honoring music appropriate for skill level and performance settings • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and co-workers • Adapt instruction to meet varying levels of ability across instruments and experience levels • Coordinate and conduct at least one band performance per semester, which may include concerts, school events, or community performances outside of regular school hours • Collaborate with other fine arts staff and administrators to support school-wide programs • Prepare and submit weekly lesson plans for the administrator's review • Regularly assess student growth and provide progress updates as needed • Cooperate with the administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the school • Accept a share of responsibility for extracurricular activities related to band and contribute to the general improvement of the school's fine arts program
