**About the Role**

**BRAVO is an award-winning musical theater program at Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School.** We are seeking an experienced and collaborative **Sound Operator** to program and mix 30-32 wireless lavalier microphones, mixing with tracks and providing excellent sound for our upcoming full-scale musical theater productions throughout the year

**The Sound Operator** is an after-school contractor position that works with the creative team to inspire excellence through music and storytelling.  Rehearsal requirements vary Monday-Friday 3:30-6:30pm and some Saturdays 9am-12pm ( Additional times during tech week) in ways that demonstrates their alignment and agreement, and with the district's equity commitments as expressed in[BoardPolicy 7:12: Ensuring Racial and Educational Equity.](https://www.op97.org/about/equity)

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**

1. Read the script and score several times to understand the needs for the show and each character.
2. Meet with Director to discuss sound, sfx and needs for production
3. Design sound, program sfx and any sound needs for production
4. Test all mics, cables and headsets prior to first dress tech for any concerns, issues, breakage and request replacements as needed
5. Responsible for overseeing and getting mics ready before each tech rehearsal, show and put away after each rehearsal and show
6. Arrive 30 minutes prior to dress tech's to assist with batteries, cables, tape and organization
7. Arrive 110 minutes prior to start of shows to prepare mics, replace batteries, check cables and headsets and put on students
8. Assist with putting microphones on all cast members wnd train Stagecrew to assist
9. Assist Stage Manager with any troubleshooting with mic or sound issues
10. Perform mic check before all tech rehearsals and shows
11. Operate/Engineer sound during each tech rehearsal and all performances
12. Train music coordinator student assigned to playing  the show tracks
13. Strike includes returning sound board back to general sound plot and all microphones cleaned/put away - mic room/closet cleaned and organized - any issues or repairs communicated with Bravo Office
14. Lead with patience and professionalism at all times
15. Leave time daily to clean and organize work areas - safety and cleanliness are priorities

**Candidate Qualifications**

* Experience mixing 24-32 wireless microphones, preferred
* Experience on an Midas M32 sound board
* Able to troubleshoot any and all sound issues that arise during technical rehearsals and performance

**Physical Requirements:**

This position requires the performance of light work�which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. The position includes close visual acuity, frequent talking, hearing, walking, climbing stairs and standing, occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, and significant fine finger dexterity.  The job is performed in non-hazardous environments and a clean atmosphere.  The position requires indoor and outdoor supervision during varying temperatures and climatic conditions.
