Catholic Music Director / Musician – $50 per hour - Luke AFB, AZ

Can you lead a congregation in worship through music that feels uplifting, welcoming, and meaningful? Do you have the musical skill, organization, and confidence to guide a Catholic praise team?

The role

Luke Air Force Base is seeking a part-time Catholic Music Director to support its Catholic worship community.

This is a 1099 contract paying $50 per hour, depending on experience. The role is expected to involve approximately two to three hours each week, although hours may vary depending on services, rehearsals, holidays, and special events.

You will help shape the musical experience of weekly worship, creating an environment where service members, families, and visitors feel able to participate and connect.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the praise team and congregation during Catholic worship servicesPlan and organize rehearsals, music schedules, and volunteer supportSing, sight-read, arrange, score, and adapt music when neededSelect music that is suitable for Catholic liturgies and chapel eventsSupport funerals, memorials, faith holidays, combined services, and special eventsPrepare lyrics and audiovisual materials, including PowerPoint slidesCoordinate closely with the Lead Chaplain or PriestMaintain chapel instruments, music, equipment, and facilitiesAttend relevant meetings, conferences, and training sessionsArrange approved cover for planned absences

The person

You will need at least two years of college-level music education, a related qualification, or equivalent experience within a church or chapel setting.

You should also have:

Experience leading Catholic worship musicStrong singing and sight-reading skillsThe ability to lead and organize a praise teamA positive and professional approachStrong communication skillsConfidence working with volunteersFluency in written and spoken EnglishWillingness to complete the required background check
