Choir Director

Resurrection choir is a group that loves to sing in good company, lead meaningful worship, and learn new musical skills. They enjoy singing familiar hymns from the great Anglican musical tradition as well as exploring new composers and repertoire. Usually, we have 2-3 singers on each part (SATB). Practically, we help lead the congregation in singing hymns, psalms and service music every Sunday and on festival days. The choir also prepares an anthem about once a month and on special occasions. The choir director will lead the choir from mid-Sept to mid-June (dates are semi-flexible), pay is $500/month, with 3 weeks paid time off, as arranged with music director.

Responsibilities:

· Plans and leads mid-week and Sunday morning rehearsals for choir, focusing on hymns, new music and voice building skills

· Regularly communicates with choir about music and scheduling and provides resources to aid in their learning

· Helps to plan and recruit soloists for other special services such as All Saints', Christmas Eve, Holy week/Easter, Pentecost

· Chooses monthly anthem and additional small ensemble pieces for choir, in cooperation with the music director

· Communicates and cooperates with music director to ensure cohesive and appropriate services

Qualifications:

· Formal training, experience, and demonstrated competence in choral conducting and singing

· Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills: empathetic, clear, organized

· Experience teaching music and building group confidence

· Basic piano proficiency

· Familiarity with Episcopal liturgy is preferred

Pay: $16.00 - $25.00 per hour
