Choral Accompanist High School

**SUMMARY OF POSITION:**
This position is a High School Choral Accompanist.  Under the direction of the choral music teacher, this position will accompany on piano the school choirs during classroom rehearsals, after-school rehearsals, and evening concerts.  This position will work closely with the choral music teacher to help students prepare, rehearse, and perform a wide variety of choral literature.

**Starting Hourly Rate**:  $20.25
 
**PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES**
1. Accompanies the school choirs during classroom rehearsals.  
2. Accompanies at after-school rehearsals, show choir competitions, ISSMA performances and evening concerts.
3. Collaborates effectively and efficiently with the choral music teacher.
4. Establishes positive relationships with students, parents and other staff.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is protected from outside weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes. There are no environmental hazards indicated for this position.
 
**Equipment:** This position is required to maintain a working knowledge of all classroom equipment.  A basic knowledge of operations for computers, printers, telephone systems, fax machines and copiers is required.
 
**Hours:** Hours will vary upon the need of the choral director. This position is typically expected to work an average of **5** hours or less per day. 4-5 days per week.  No more than **180** days per year. Hours/days may be adjusted per the direct supervisor to assure adequate coverage to meet the demands of the school and job. Weeks prior to a concert will be consistetly 5 days a week.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
