The Youth Choirs Sectional Coach will be responsible for leading rehearsals for the high voices or low voices section of the AMP Youth Choirs. Rehearsals take place on Wednesdays from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.Sectionals prepare students for their weekly ensemble rehearsals and guide students towards public performances.The successful candidate will possess an unyielding commitment to empowering youth to realize their possibilities through music. Blank Foundation, The Rich’s Foundation, the Sartain Lanier Foundation, the Luluma Foundation, Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs, Fulton County Arts Council, Georgia Council for the Arts, Georgia Department of Education, Bloomberg Philanthropies, Delta Community Credit Union, the Next Generation Fund, and the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta.In 2024, AMP became the recipient of five Steinway pianos and was awarded the prestigious honor of being a Steinway Select School, making AMP one of eight schools in the country with this distinction.AMP’s partners and collaborators include the City of Atlanta Department of Parks and Recreation, Atlanta Public Schools, Clayton State University, and the Chestnut Family Foundation.ResponsibilitiesLearn, understand and represent the AMP philosophies for uplifting youths, families and communities through the pursuit of musical excellenceTeach group lessons to AMP after-school orchestra studentsChoose, prepare, and/or arrange appropriate repertoire for group lessonsLiaise with parents/families of AMP after-school orchestra studentsCoordinate and cooperate with the AMP manager of primary orchestras in keeping track of AMP students/ attendance and musical progressExecute additional administrative tasks as necessaryIdeal candidate will possess:A Bachelor and/or Master of Music (preferred)Passion for music as a vehicle for positive social changeExperience working (music-related or other) with disadvantaged, urban/rural youthExemplary music performance ability/experienceExemplary teaching ability (group lesson experience a plus)Ability to inspire, work with and mentor youths ages 6 and upExcellent interpersonal skills and be comfortable working in a teamAbility to adapt, be flexible and have a sense of humorNotes: The Choral Teaching Artist is a part-time, hourly ($50-65/hour) position starting in January 2025.
