*Position Overview**
The Music Director provides leadership for the music ministry of West Nashville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading music for weekly worship services and special worship events while working collaboratively with the Senior Pastor, ministry staff, and volunteers to create meaningful and engaging worship experiences.
*Commitment**
· Expected time commitment: Up to 7 hours per week, unless additional hours are approved by the Senior Pastor.
· Typical responsibilities within these hours may include rehearsal leadership, worship planning, music preparation, team communication, and preparation of worship media.

· The Music Director may also be asked to provide music leadership for additional church events such as Holy Week services, Trunk-or-Treat, Christmas Eve worship, and other special services. Additional hours will be compensated at the current hourly rate with approval from the Senior Pastor.

*Accountability**
· The Music Director reports directly to the Senior Pastor and works collaboratively with pastoral staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers.
· Paid musicians report to the Music Director for scheduling, rehearsal coordination, and performance expectations in consultation with the Senior Pastor.

*Purpose of the Position**
· To oversee and coordinate the music ministry of West Nashville Cumberland Presbyterian Church by planning, organizing, and leading music for worship services and supporting the church’s mission through meaningful and spiritually grounded musical leadership.
*Responsibilities**
· Worship Planning and Leadership
· Plan and lead music for weekly worship services.

· Collaborate with the Senior Pastor and ministry staff regarding worship themes, liturgy, and special services.

· Coordinate and lead all forms of music used in worship.

· Ensure an adequate number of musicians are scheduled for worship services.

*Music Team Leadership**
· Recruit, schedule, and lead praise team and choir members.
· Lead a weekly one-hour rehearsal for worship music.

· Provide guidance and encouragement to volunteer musicians.

· Coordinate the scheduling of musicians and singers for services.

*Worship Media and Preparation**
· Prepare or coordinate preparation of ProPresenter slides for each worship service.
· Secure and coordinate a volunteer to operate slides during worship services.

*Communication and Administration**
· Attend regular meetings with the Senior Pastor regarding worship planning.
· Communicate regularly with pastoral staff regarding music selections and worship updates.

· Submit a monthly report to the WNCP Session. Reports are due one week before the Session meeting (held on the third Wednesday of each month).

· Submit a detailed timesheet to the Senior Pastor prior to each semi-monthly payroll deadline.

*Personnel Leadership**
· Coordinate with paid musicians and volunteers participating in worship.
· Complete an annual evaluation of praise team staff and provide recommendations regarding compensation adjustments to the Senior Pastor.

*Special Worship Events**
· Provide music leadership for special worship services and events throughout the year including, but not limited to: Holy Week services, Christmas Eve worship, Church outreach events involving music ministry.
*Spiritual and Ministry Expectations**
· Support the mission and ministry of West Nashville Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
· Demonstrate a collaborative, servant-leadership approach to worship ministry.

· Foster a worship environment that is welcoming, spiritually grounded, and musically engaging.

· Spend appropriate time in preparation for worship leadership, including time for personal prayer and spiritual growth.

*Working Relationships**
The Music Director works collaboratively with: The Senior Pastor and pastoral staff, the church office and communications staff, the finance personnel regarding music ministry expenses, The Children’s Ministry Director regarding children’s worship events, and volunteer musicians and singers.
*Evaluation**
· Performance in this role will be reviewed annually by the Senior Pastor in consultation with the Session.
*Preferred Qualifications**
· Experience leading music in a church worship setting
· Ability to lead and coordinate volunteer musicians

· Familiarity with both contemporary and traditional Christian worship music
