Church Pianist/Accompanist

Key Responsibilities
• Provide piano and/or organ music for weekly Sunday 10 am worship service and Christmas Eve, including: Prelude and offertory (appropriate music that musician selects) as well as hymns and service music as provided by planning committee, working with liturgical choir for support.
Additional Responsibilities
• Collaborate with the pastor and any worship leaders to plan music that aligns with the liturgical season, sermon themes, and special services, as well as regarding musical or scheduling issues.
• Play for special services as requested (Holy Week, midweek Lenten & Advent services)
Qualifications
• Proficiency in piano/organ performance, including sight reading and accompanying.
• Experience leading/accompanying small musical groups, such as choirs or praise band.
• Familiarity with traditional Christian hymns; knowledge of Lutheran worship traditions is helpful but not required.
• Reliability, punctuality, and a spirit of cooperation.
• A heart for ministry and a desire to support worship through music.
Time Commitment
• Typically, 2 hours per week for 10 am Sunday morning worship, including warm up with other church musicians (9:15 – 11:00)
Compensation
• Compensation is commensurate with experience and the church’s budget. Starting at $100/service (up to $150 based on experience).
• Will be offered first chance to provide music for weddings and funerals for additional compensation from the parties involved.
