Conductor of Adult Community Ensembles

Job Description: The role of the Municipal Band Director is to lead a community band comprising adult and high school-age volunteer musicians. The band is sponsored by the local Recreation Department and performs several times a year at city-sponsored programs, community events, and assisted living facilities. Responsibilities: • Direct weekly band rehearsals on Tuesday evenings (approximately 7:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.) • Select music that suits the diverse skill levels of the ensemble • Plan rehearsals to optimize rehearsal time with the band • Lead band concerts and performances, which may occur on days other than Tuesday evenings • Assist in recruiting new members • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to create a positive experience for all band members and prospective new members Qualifications: • Prior experience in conducting, directing ensembles, or music education • Ability to work effectively with volunteer musicians of varying skill levels and backgrounds • Effective communication skills • Energy, musical talent, vision, and commitment
