Contemporary Worship Leader & Accompanist

Join our worship team in beautiful Austin, TX! The Contemporary Worship Leader & Accompanist is a part-time (12-15 hours/week) position that will lead and creatively develop a contemporary worship experience at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church (ELCA). ● This new worship service will primarily exist separately from our Sunday morning worship, but the impact of this position could also extend to some Sundays and possibly other times (e.g., contemporary band that might play on Sunday morning once per month) ● Recruit and develop members of contemporary worship band ● Recruit and develop contemporary worship team, consisting of volunteers who help plan and lead the contemporary worship service ● Rehearse weekly with contemporary worship band ● Plan all music for contemporary worship service ● Develop annual budget for contemporary worship team ● Coordinate with Director of Worship & Arts and Pastors in worship planning and preparation ● Accompany the Senior Choir for classic music on piano, attending choir rehearsals and most worship services where Senior Choir sings SKILLS & CHARACTERISTICS: The ideal candidate must demonstrate: ⮚ Passion for Jesus Christ and the ministry of the Church, and a desire to grow deeper in faith ⮚ Ability to work with others and lead in a team environment demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and willingness to lead volunteers ⮚ Vision for developing contemporary worship that is lively, engaging, and thinks “beyond the walls” of a traditional church service ⮚ Excellent musical skill, proficiency on keyboards ⮚ Creative, innovative, and comfortable working in all forms of digital media ⮚ Strong organizational and communication skills ⮚ Positive outlook; trustworthy and honest ⮚ Humor and joy in relationships with others ⮚ Listen and encourage different perspectives and to build consensus in direction ⮚ Willingness to work flexible hours, including Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings for worship TO APPLY: Feeling the Holy Spirit’s nudge to inquire about this position?
