Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts (VCUarts) Department of Dance and Choreography is establishing a pool of applicants for possible Dance Musician positions. Bachelor's Degree in Music or equivalent professional training, education, and experience One (1) year of experience playing for dance classes at the collegiate, professional, or pre-professional level Knowledge of/ability to learn ballet terminology Ability to sight-read provided music and improvise in various styles as needed Prepare multiple genres of music (e.g. classical, pop, musical theatre, opera, or others) which can be adapted for the ballet and/or modern dance class Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as an hourly employee at VCU.
