Director of Bands Position

The director will be responsible for all aspects of the program. A strong background in all aspects of instrumental music and conducting is desired. Responsibilities include: • Leading the planning, development, and implementation of a bands program • Successfully recruiting students, based upon agreed-upon goals, for band ensembles • Supervising student leaders to create and produce band concerts and performances • Budgeting, management of all aspects of the instrumental ensembles and concerts, and providing leadership for the program • Collaborating with colleagues in the creative arts, across campus and Southwestern College leadership to create a bands program that promotes excellence in a liberal arts environment Preferred Qualifications: • A Master’s degree in instrumental music or a closely related field. The successful candidate will be subject to a criminal background check.
