About the Organization
Young Musicians Unite (YMU) provides free, high-quality music education to thousands of students across Miami-Dade's Title I schools. Our mission is to empower youth through music, creativity, and community. As our Director of Marketing, you will lead the charge in building and amplifying a brand that reflects the urgency, impact, and innovation of our work.
Position Overview
We are seeking a strategic leader and creative operator to serve as YMU’s Marketing Director. This individual will oversee all aspects of our marketing efforts — from brand and content to digital strategy and campaign execution — and play a critical role in supporting our growth trajectory. The ideal candidate is equal parts storyteller, systems thinker, and performance marketer.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Design and execute YMU’s comprehensive marketing strategy to support organization-wide goals.
Align marketing with development, programs, and executive leadership, particularly around fundraising, events, student recruitment, and public/private partnerships.
Lead quarterly and annual planning processes with clear KPIs and reporting structures.
Brand Development and Content Strategy
Refine and elevate YMU’s brand identity, voice, and messaging across all platforms.
Lead development of high-impact content across video, photography, social media, email, and web.
Ensure that all materials reflect the mission and values of YMU, while driving engagement with key audiences.
Digital Marketing and Audience Growth
Manage our digital ecosystem, including SEO/SEM, paid ads, email marketing, website optimization, and analytics.
Oversee social media strategy and growth, creating tailored campaigns for different audiences (donors, families, schools, events, etc.).
Evaluate performance and adapt campaigns based on data insights and feedback loops.
Event and Campaign Support
Lead marketing for major events including the Annual Gala, student concerts, seasonal campaigns, and key partnership activations.
Coordinate with development and programs teams to ensure brand alignment and compelling storytelling across every public touchpoint.
Team Development and Vendor Oversight
Build and manage a high-performing internal marketing team and external contractors (graphic designers, video teams, photographers, PR firms, etc.).
Establish workflows, approval processes, and creative standards that promote both excellence and efficiency.
Qualifications
Required Experience and Skills
7+ years of progressive experience in marketing, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
Proven ability to develop and implement effective marketing strategies across multiple channels.
Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a high visual and narrative sensibility.

Adept with tools such as Meta Ads Manager, Google Analytics, email marketing platforms (Mailchimp/Klaviyo), project management systems (Basecamp, Notion, Asana), and design software (Adobe, Canva, Figma).
