Director of Music

Pioneer Ocean View United Church of Christ — a progressive, multicultural, LGBTQIA+ open and affirming congregation with a stunning view of Mission Bay in San Diego —is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Director of Music to help us connect with God, each other, and the world through music. About the Role: This is a part-time position (approx. 10–12 hrs/week) focused on planning and leading music for worship services in collaboration with our Pastor. We’re Looking for Someone Who Has: • Experience in music and choral conducting (especially in church settings) • Strong vocal and teaching abilities • A positive, supportive attitude toward musicians of all levels • Familiarity with a variety of Christian music styles • Piano or instrumental proficiency (strongly preferred) • Basic tech and communication skills • An understanding of music licensing requirements • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate with church leadership and the worship team on a weekly basis This is a non-exempt position with compensation commensurate with experience.
