Director of Music

The Director of Music will develop and lead the music ministry of Trinity Lutheran Church. This includes conducting the Sanctuary and Bell Choirs, rehearsing the band, as well as possibly providing musical opportunities for children and youth.Skills and Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in music or commensurate training and experience.Proficiency in music education and conducting.Proficiency in piano (required); proficiency in organ (preferred).Demonstrated knowledge of Christian hymnody and liturgical music. Lutheran experience is a plus.Strong communication and organizational skills.Ability to demonstrate Christian love, patience, honesty, openness, good humor, grace, and cooperation in relationships with members, staff and visitors.Ability to cultivate the talents of a wide range of musicians.Ability to provide musical arrangements for instrumental parts is a plus.Specific Responsibilities:Oversee all aspects of the music ministry of this church drawing upon a diverse variety of musical styles and genres.Provide or coordinate music direction, choir and bell choir direction, and instrumental music for weekly Sunday services, all seasonal and special services (some of which are evening services during Advent, Lent, and Holy week), and additional services as agreed upon.Plan necessary rehearsal time and communicate this schedule as appropriate.Conduct music rehearsals except in case of illness or emergency. Schedule substitute musicians as needed.Work collaboratively with the pastor to assist in the selection of music and liturgies.Maintain the Trinity music library.Administer the budget for the music program.Ensure that music licenses are current.Nurture the congregation’s abilities and appreciation for Christian hymnody and liturgical music.Recruit and encourage individuals in utilizing their musical skill in service to God.Oversee maintenance of the church’s musical instruments.#J-18808-Ljbffr
