Role Description: The Director of Music is a part-time, hybrid role based in Orlando, FL, with a combination of on-site responsibilities and some work-from-home flexibility. This role oversees all musical aspects of worship services, including selecting songs, planning musical elements in coordination with pastoral staff, and ensuring that music aligns with the church’s theological and worship priorities. Day-to-day tasks include rehearsing with musicians and vocalists, arranging and preparing music, managing schedules, and providing musical leadership during services. The Director of Music will also develop and mentor volunteer members of the music team, coordinate audio and production needs with appropriate staff or volunteers, and contribute to special services, events, and seasonal programs. Administrative duties such as maintaining music resources, communicating plans to the worship team, and collaborating on long-term worship planning are also part of the role.

Qualifications

Strong foundation in Music Theory and general Music knowledge applicable to congregational worship.Experience in Music Education, including coaching, training, or mentoring vocalists and instrumentalists.Skills in Music Production, such as arranging, basic recording or sound coordination, and working with audio teams.Background in Church Music, with understanding of liturgical flow, congregational singing, and Christ-centered worship practices.Proficiency on at least one primary instrument (e.g., piano, guitar, or other suitable instrument) for leading worship.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with pastors, staff, and volunteers, and to lead teams with humility and clarity.Strong organizational and communication skills, including planning rehearsals, managing schedules, and providing clear direction.Prior experience leading worship or directing church music programs is preferred; formal music training or related degree is beneficial.
