Job SummaryThe Director of Music at All Souls Catholic Church is responsible for planning, coordinating, and providing music for liturgical celebrations to enhance the prayerful and worship experience of the parish community. This position leads the parish music program in alignment with Catholic liturgical norms and collaborates closely with clergy, staff, and volunteers.Job Responsibilities Plan and provide music for weekend Masses, Holy Days, funerals, weddings, and special liturgiesSelect appropriate liturgical music in accordance with the Church calendar and guidelinesDirect and accompany choirs, cantors, and musicians during rehearsals and liturgical celebrationsRecruit, train, and support volunteer musicians and choir membersSchedule and lead regular rehearsals for choirs and music groupsMaintain and manage music library, instruments, and related equipmentCollaborate with the Pastor and liturgy staff in planning parish worshipEnsure proper care and maintenance of musical instruments and sound equipmentCoordinate special music programs, concerts, or seasonal liturgical events as appropriateJob Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Music, Liturgy, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)Proficiency in piano and/or organ; choral directing experience requiredStrong knowledge of Catholic liturgy, hymnody, and liturgical music traditionsPrevious experience in parish or church music ministry preferredAbility to lead and work collaboratively with clergy, staff, and volunteersStrong organizational and communication skillsAbility to recruit and develop volunteer musiciansMust pass diocesan background check and complete Safe Environment (VIRTUS) trainingFlexibility to work evenings, weekends, and liturgical holidaysEqual Opportunity EmployerThe Archdiocese of St. Louis is an Equal Opportunity Employer and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind.
