The Director of Music and Choir responsible for the planning of all liturgical music for Sunday celebrations, feast days and seasons of the liturgical year. This position also fosters the active participation of the assembly in singing; coordinates the preparation of music to be sung at various liturgical celebrations; and promotes the ministries of choirs, cantors and all who play instruments... that serve the Liturgy.Looking for a candidate who can work to continue to maintain a thriving music program and do future building; have the ability to work with current musicians – volunteer cantors, choir members and instrumentalists and paid piano players.A leader with the ability to recruit and work with volunteers of all ages who are interested in giving of their time and talents.This parish’s music ministry has a strong history of parish member participation. A program is in place with a strong volunteer and piano player base.Core Job ResponsibilitiesResponsible for planning, preparing and coordinating all music and parish musicians for all liturgical celebrations on weekends, feasts and special occasionsRecruit, train, direct and supervise choirs, cantors and instrumentalists for liturgical celebrationsLead the parish choir and conduct weekly rehearsalsFind substitute musicians when needed for weekend liturgies and special occasions.Maintain the parish music/liturgy library and parish missalettesWork closely with Pastoral staff with the preparation of parish liturgiesMeet with engaged couples for the preparation of wedding liturgiesWork closely with families on selecting music and finding musicians when planning a funeral massMaintain current copyright licenses and adhere to all regulations regarding their usageMaintain and supervise upkeep of Parish pianos, church sound system as neededProvide musical input and copyright information for the preparation of worship participation aids, i.e. First Communion booklet, Confirmation booklet, Triduum booklet etcOther duties as assigned by the PastorQualificationsPracticing Catholic in good standing and able to partake fully in the sacramental life of the ChurchProficient in instrumental and choral directionMotivated and team oriented with strong communication skillsStrong verbal, written and interpersonal skillsTheological and Catechetical trainingAdditional Information Which Maybe Helpful:· Responsible for three Masses each weekend.· Use of OCP Breaking Bread missalette and in-house hymnal for worship aids.· Use of Kawai grand piano and Kawai synthesizer in the sanctuary.
