The Director of Music and Liturgy provides leadership in the planning, execution, and celebration of all parish liturgies, with the assistance of the sacristan coordinator, liturgy assistant, liturgical ministers, and volunteers. Work with the wedding coordinator to plan music with the engaged couples Assure that the parish’s music conforms to church and diocesan directives Direct and rehearse choir(s) as needed Ensure that the organ, pianos, and all musical instruments are maintained, repaired, and tuned as needed Ensure the AV system in the church is functioning Maintain the parish music library Coordinate cleaning of altar linens with the assistance of the linen coordinator Plan the sanctuary environment for the different liturgical seasons and Holy Days. Expand working knowledge and appreciation of Catholic liturgical and musical traditions Maintain awareness of current trends in liturgy and music by reading church documents and professional journals The Director of Music and Liturgy will work the appropriate number of hours to make sure that all of the above responsibilities and duties are accomplished.
