Role Description The Director of Music Ministry is a part-time, on-site role located in Lemoyne, PA. This role plans, coordinates, and leads music for worship services, including selecting hymns and liturgical music that align with the church year and the themes of each service. Daily tasks include rehearsing and directing choirs or ensembles, accompanying congregational singing, and playing organ or other instruments as needed. The Director will recruit, support, and mentor volunteers and musicians of various ages and skill levels, encouraging their participation in worship. The role collaborates closely with pastoral and church leadership to integrate music into the broader ministry, prepares seasonal and special services, and maintains music resources, instruments, and rehearsal spaces.
Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in Music Ministry and Church Music within a worship setting.Strong knowledge of Music Theory and the ability to apply it to hymnody, liturgy, and choir/ensemble preparation.Background in Music Education, including the ability to teach and develop singers and instrumentalists.Proficiency in Organ performance for congregational singing, service music, and choral accompaniment.Ability to plan and lead rehearsals, and to coordinate multiple musical groups or ensembles.Effective communication and collaborative skills for working with pastoral staff, volunteers, and congregation members.Familiarity with Lutheran or similar liturgical traditions is preferred, with openness to diverse musical styles.Bachelor’s degree in Music or related field, or equivalent training and experience.
