Purpose: The Director of Music and Organist (DoM) is responsible for developing and nurturing a vital music program that glorifies God in the liturgical life of St. Thomas the Apostle, thereby drawing the parish into deeper and more meaningful spiritual relationships with God and each other. The DoM works with the Rector, clergy, and laity to vision, design, and implement a comprehensive music program that functions in tandem with the other formation ministries of St. Thomas the Apostle, providing spiritual development and growth of community. The DoM works in concert with the rector, who, by virtue of his office, is charged with the responsibility of ordering and directing all services of corporate worship. Maintain (or provide for the maintenance of) all musical instruments, the music library, choral vestments and facilities, and all other items specific to the music ministry. Broad knowledge of historical and contemporary church music and other music appropriate for use in worship.
