The Director of Music will work very closely with the Senior Pastor and Church Leadership to enhance all worship services and the music ministry. CORE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The ideal candidate will have Spirit-led attributes, including: • Passion for ministry and takes ownership of assignments • Self-starter and problem-solver • Flexible and open-minded • Forward-thinker who anticipates needs and develops and executes solutions • Superior written and verbal communication skills • Sound decision-making and judgment • Creative, confident, and a hard worker • Administrative leadership skills and coordination • Team player who is skilled at working across various church ministries and volunteers • Prioritizes personal spiritual development and growth as a disciple of Jesus Christ • Commitment and investment in the life and ministry at Walker Memorial Baptist Church • Worship: Prepare for and lead weekly worship experience. • Administration and Communication: Oversee the entire music ministry; manage music ministry staff, including musicians, worship leader, and volunteers; attend staff meetings; schedule, coordinate, and execute weekly rehearsal(s); plan, select, and communicate monthly music and themes for all services and programs to worship team, including sound and audio/visual team; and the overall administrative requirements for working with other ministries. • Audio-visual, Equipment, and Technology: Improve sound, lighting, and other aspects of the worship experience, including working with sound and audio/visual engineers and other experts to improve the overall worship experience; • Ministry Growth and Development: Develop a short-term and long-term plan to grow, and improve the music ministry with volunteers, including the Choir, Praise Team, Youth and Young Adult Choir, Children’s Choir, and Worshipping Arts Program (i.e., dance and drama).
