This position plays a central role in worship life, shaping the musical expression of our congregation and nurturing the talents of singers and instrumentalists of all ages.We are a welcoming, worship-centered community that values musical excellence, creativity, and collaboration. The ideal candidate will bring strong musical skills, a passion for church music, and a heart for ministry.Key Responsibilities Worship & Music LeadershipServe as organist and choir director for all regular and special worship services.Select and prepare music that reflects the liturgical season, scripture themes, and diverse musical traditions.Collaborate closely with the Pastor and Worship Committee to plan hymns, anthems, and special music.Provide final worship music selections weekly for bulletin preparation.Choir Direction & Ensemble DevelopmentDirect the adult choir, including weekly rehearsals from September through May.Recruit, encourage, and maintain participation among choir members, soloists, and instrumentalists.Support and coordinate children’s music involvement, including Sunday School music activities.Supervise the Bell Choir Director and coordinate monthly bell choir participation.Program AdministrationMaintain and catalog the church’s extensive music library.Oversee maintenance of the organ and pianos within budget guidelines.Arrange for qualified substitutes during absences.Participate in the Worship Committee and HOPE planning team.Provide content for newsletters, websites, and social media as needed.Professional Development & StandardsStay informed about current trends in church music and worship.Participate in continuing education opportunities (funded within budget).Maintain professional memberships (e.g., AGO, ALCM), supported by the church.Uphold professional conduct in appearance, communication, and behavior.QualificationsA profession of Christian faith consistent with the Apostles’ Creed.Strong proficiency in organ and piano, with the ability to lead congregational singing confidently.Experience directing adult and children’s choirs and working with instrumental ensembles.Familiarity with traditional, contemporary, and multicultural sacred music.Excellent communication, organizational, and administrative skills.Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and congregants of all ages.Enthusiasm, creativity, and respect for the musical heritage of the congregation.Position DetailsHours: 25–30 hours per weekReports to: PastorAnnual Review: Conducted by Executive CommitteeVacation: Four Sundays per year (not during Holy Week or week before Christmas)Resources Available: Allen Digital Organ, Yamaha Clavinova Piano, Everett Acoustic Piano, Extensive music library, Budget for music, supplies, and instrument maintenance#J-18808-Ljbffr
