Christ Church Cathedral seeks an enthusiastic musician to plan and lead anthems, service music, and congregational hymnody. Qualifications • Training or significant experience in choral conducting (degree preferred) • Familiarity with the liturgy of the Episcopal Church Duties • Leading the choir during weekly evening rehearsals, Sunday morning warm-up, Sunday morning worship, and special services • Working with the Dean to plan music for weekly and special services, including hymns, anthems, and service music • Communicating music details for inclusion in service bulletins • Contributing to weekly staff and seasonal worship planning meetings • Auditioning and recommending potential section leaders to the Dean for hiring • Arranging for additional outside musicians as needed • Fostering congregational singing • Recruiting choir members, including young people • Coordinating the curation of the Cathedral’s music library • Encouraging people of all ages to participate in the music ministry • Collaborating with others in leading a cathedral arts ministry If interested in applying for a joint position of Music Director and Organist, the following are the additional qualifications and responsibilities: Responsibilities • Playing the organ for 10:30 a.m. Sunday Eucharist and other special services of the Church, including solo music as appropriate and necessary (preludes, postludes, etc.)
