Director of Music Ministry Kern Church (United Methodist) Position Overview Kern Church is seeking a Director of Music Ministry to lead and grow our traditional worship music ministry. This role provides musical leadership for weekly traditional worship, directs the Chancel Choir, and helps shape meaningful, Christ-centered worship experiences. We're looking for someone who leads well, collaborates easily, and is excited to nurture both current musicians and future possibilities for music ministry. Key Responsibilities Plan and lead music for weekly traditional worship in collaboration with the Senior Pastor and worship design team. Direct and rehearse the Chancel Choir; work with soloists and ensembles Prepare music for seasonal services (e.g., Christmas, Easter) and special services as needed Collaborate with other worship leaders and staff across worship ministries Encourage participation and help grow the music ministry through relationship-building Oversee the music budget and maintain the music library and choir robes Participate in staff meetings Qualifications Required:
Experience directing church choirs and leading congregational worship Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills Commitment to Christian ministry and the life of the church Familiarity with traditional worship and church music Availability for Sunday worship, rehearsals, and special services Preferred:
Degree in music or related field Familiarity with United Methodist worship and music Ability to recruit and encourage musicians of varying skill levels Residence in or near the Oak Ridge area.
