Inspire a Love of Music in Young Learners
Blessed Sacrament School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Part-Time Music Teacher to join our faculty. We are looking for an enthusiastic musician and educator who enjoys inspiring young learners through music while fostering creativity, confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
The Music Teacher will provide engaging instruction for students in PK3 through 6th grade, direct the student choir, prepare music for school liturgies and performances, and contribute to the vibrant life of our school community. As a parish school rooted in the Catholic faith, Blessed Sacrament seeks an educator who will support our mission and incorporate faith, tradition, and community into the music experience.
Schedule and Compensation
This is a part-time, 10-month position. The work schedule will be determined based on the successful candidate's availability and the needs of the school. Compensation will be based on the agreed-upon work schedule, education, qualifications, and experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate music instruction for students in PK3 through 6th grade.Develop and implement a music curriculum aligned with diocesan and state standards while supporting the mission and values of Catholic education.Teach general music, vocal music, music appreciation, music theory, and introductory instrumental concepts as appropriate.Foster students' musical abilities, creativity, confidence, and appreciation for the arts in a positive and inclusive classroom environment.Direct the student choir and prepare students to provide music for school liturgies, prayer services, and other faith-based celebrations.Organize and direct school concerts, including Christmas and Spring performances, as well as other music-related events throughout the school year.Assess student progress and maintain accurate records and complete report cards in accordance with school procedures.Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate music into school-wide activities, performances, liturgical celebrations, and special events.Utilize technology to enhance instruction and student learning.Maintain and care for musical instruments, equipment, sheet music, and classroom materials.Communicate effectively and professionally with students, families, faculty, and administration.Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and other school activities as assigned.Support the mission and values of Blessed Sacrament School and Catholic education.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music, Elementary Education, or a related field from an accredited college or university preferred.New York State teaching certification or eligibility preferred.Experience teaching music or working with elementary-aged students preferred.Experience in a Catholic school setting is preferred but not required.Ability to play one or more musical instruments preferred.Strong classroom management, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, faculty, and administration.Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and faith-centered learning environment.
