Ensemble Accompanist

At Berklee, we are seeking an Accompanist to join our Ensemble Department as a pianist. Job Overview The accompanist will act as part of our house band for regularly scheduled Ensemble Department classes, accompanying students in various styles and genres. As a member of our Ensemble Department team, the accompanist will participate in performances, clinics, and workshops, and assist students and faculty during class time. Required Skills and Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree in Music • Strong musical background in a wide range of styles Benefits • Participate in Ensemble Department performances and/or additional rehearsals • Accompany Visiting Artists' concerts, clinics, and workshops • Assist students and faculty during class time • Some nights/weekends may be required Key Competencies • Excellent sight-reading • Excellent musicianship, especially the ability to groove • Background in all Contemporary styles • Complete technical command of the instrument • Sensitive to the needs of vocalists • Cultivate a supportive learning environment • Promote a climate of respect for personal and cultural differences • Value ethical behavior in all aspects of personal and professional life • Self-critical, questioning, and committed to personal excellence and self-improvement • Demonstrate a willingness to take on big challenges and see them through
