Group Music Class Instructor

The Group Music Class Instructor will introduce students aged 9 to 17 to the world of music through group guitar and group piano lessons. This individual must be able to teach beginner to intermediate guitar and piano classes. With support from the WOS Music Education Director, the Group Music Class Instructor will follow a basic curriculum that will prepare students for future private lessons. They will spend the majority of that time in classes with some paid planning/meeting time. Job Responsibilities • Complete 4 hours of paid training and orientation with the WOS Program Director and WOS Music Education Director • Serve as Group Music Class Instructor for group guitar classes and group piano classes with up to seven students, aged 9-17, per class • Prepare class lessons, materials (supplied by WOS), and supplemental learning activities that support student development • Teach the fundamentals of guitar and piano focusing on proper technique, note and chord identification, basic music theory, and skills for ensemble playing • Complete a progress assessment or prepare a group performance at the end of the semester • Meet with the WOS Executive Director twice each semester; meet as needed with the WOS Music Education Director • Submit one class video recording per semester for evaluation • Foster a supportive, positive environment for all students • Send regular communications to parents and guardians of enrolled students
