Guitar Teacher

Mr. Max Music Culver City, California

Hey! We are Mr. Max Music- an established, independent music school based in the South Bay, and we're currently expanding our teaching team as we grow our presence on the West Side of Los Angeles.

We're looking for exceptional music teachers across several areas:

Guitar • Bass • Piano • Voice • Drums • Music Production

We're particularly interested in musicians who are not only strong with their instrument of expertise, but are also excellent educators and communicators.

We already have an established student base, a strong team of working musicians/teachers and a solid reputation. We're selective about who we bring onto the team because maintaining the quality and culture of our school is extremely important to us. We also want teachers who are highly motivated to build their student roster. Being highly organized, and communicative (especially when new leads come in) is a must!

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

You may be a great fit if you:

* Are an active working musician or highly accomplished player

* Have meaningful experience teaching your instrument or specialty

* Are reliable, punctual, organized, and communicative

* Can build genuine relationships with students and families

* Can work with students of different ages, personalities, and skill levels

* Know how to make lessons engaging while still providing real musical development

* Are interested in building long-term students and relationships, rather than simply filling available hours

We're especially interested in teachers with backgrounds in:

Rock • Alternative • Indie • Punk • Pop • Blues • Jazz • Singer-Songwriter

Additional skills in music theory, songwriting, arranging, recording, or production are a plus.

If you teach multiple instruments or disciplines, definitely mention that in your application.

SPECIAL NEEDS / SDP TEACHERS

Mr. Max Music is also a Self-Determination Program (SDP)-approved provider, and we have opportunities for teachers who are experienced or interested in working with students with special needs.

Experience working with students with autism, Down syndrome, ADHD, developmental differences, or other special needs is highly valued.

These assignments can offer higher compensation than our standard teaching rate, depending on the student and program.

If you have experience in this area, please highlight it in your application.

THE POSITION

* Potential opportunities on the West Side or elsewhere in the LA Area

* Occasional Zoom lessons

* Flexible scheduling

* Compensation varies based on Experience and the particular student but ranges from $35-$70/hr

* Higher-paid opportunities available for qualified SDP/special-needs work

* Opportunities to build a consistent roster of long-term students

* Opportunities for teachers who can teach multiple instruments or disciplines

HOW TO APPLY

Please send a short email including:

1. A few sentences about yourself and your teaching experience

2. Your musical background and resume

3. What you enjoy about teaching

4. Which instruments/disciplines you teach

5. Any experience working with children or students with special needs

6. Links to your music, performances, website, portfolio, or social media

7. Your general availability and the areas of Los Angeles you're able to teach

We're looking for high-quality musicians and educators who take teaching seriously and want to become part of an established, growing music school.

If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you!
