**Overview:** The Hallway Musician is a Community Service Work Study student employment position that involves playing music in the hallway or lobby of a children's hospital to create a welcoming environment for patients and families. This is a part-time position that requires a commitment of at least two 2-hour shifts per month. **Responsibilities:** • Play a two-hour set of music in a children's hospital setting, using a soft-playing instrument such as piano or string instrument • Set up instrument/equipment and check in with supervisor before each shift • Break down instrument/equipment and check out with supervisor after each shift • Other relevant tasks as assigned by supervisor • Report to Keenan Recker, Music Team Supervisor, and Clare Kennedy, Moreau Center Program Manager, as needed • *Qualifications:** • Must have Federal Work Study Funds in Financial Aid package (contact finaid@up.edu with questions) • Must be able to play an instrument that can be played softly • Must be comfortable being present and welcoming in a children's hospital setting • Must be over 18 years of age • Must be available to play for at least 2 2-hour sets per month • Preferred qualifications include experience with children, Music and/or Education major, and experience in a healthcare setting • *Benefits:** • Hourly wage of $16.70/hour (above Portland Metro Minimum Wage) • Opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and families in the hospital • Supervision and support from experienced Music Team Supervisor and Moreau Center Program Manager • Flexible scheduling to accommodate student needs and availability
