**Overview:** As a Hallway Musician for Children's Cancer Association, you will have the opportunity to bring joy and comfort to children and families in a hospital setting. This Community Service Work Study student employment position is ideal for music majors or those with a passion for music and working with children. **Responsibilities:** • Play a two-hour set of music in the hallway or lobby... of a children's hospital, creating a welcoming environment for patients and families • Set up instrument/equipment and check in with supervisor before each performance • Play a variety of music, including covers or original songs, and loop a one-hour set to make up the two-hour performance • Break down instrument/equipment and check out with supervisor after each performance • Other relevant tasks as assigned by supervisor • *Qualifications:** • Must have Federal Work Study Funds in Financial Aid package (contact finaid@up.edu with questions) • Must be able to play an instrument that can be played softly, such as piano or string instrument • Must be comfortable being present and welcoming in a children's hospital setting • Must be over 18 years of age • Must be available to play for at least 2 two-hour sets per month • *Benefits:** • Hourly wage of $0.75 above Portland Metro Minimum Wage ($16.70/hour) • Opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and families in a hospital setting • Supervision and guidance from experienced music professionals • Flexible scheduling with at least two two-hour shifts per month
